Mopey Wednesday

I don't have a whole lot to say on a positive note. We ended up having to buy new tires for our car on Monday. I had to leave work on Tuesday to drop a urine sample from Halo off at the vet (to confirm her having diabetes) and also had to leave work early to go to the doctor's office myself to make sure the surgery I had in July to get rid of some pre-cancerous cells actually got rid of those cells. Halo had an emergency vet appointment last night because she hasn't really eaten since her senior kitty wellness exam last Thursday night. She finally ate a tiny bit of tunafish on Saturday, but diabetic kitties can't live on tunafish alone. Two vet appointments a week apart ended up being another cost that is hard for us.

I am mentally exhausted. It is hard to be in a good mood right now. I just feel sad on the inside because I'm so worried about Halo and how we're going to pay for everything that keeps coming up. I'm helping a friend of mine with her crafty stuff in November to help her out with her mass of holiday sales. I'm heading to Ketchikan in December to work at the coffee shop. I've been selling what I can on eBay. (Here's a link to some auctions I have going now. I'm selling two bottles of 100% Pure face lotion and some cute winter hats, gloves, and scarves.) I haven't bought anything that wasn't necessary lately. (This includes coffee even. I've used coffee cards for that.)

One of the only things I can think of that has happened in the past couple of days that has made me really happy is seeing all the awesome colors of the trees. I took this picture outside my building at work the other morning. I just love how perfectly dotted with leaves the walkway is!

Okay, since writing this post earlier I do have more awesomeness to add. Tomorrow night I will help out Jessica from Angel Face Botanicals a little bit and will be helping her throughout the holiday season whenever she needs me! Also, today I won a $10 gift certificate to Chocolate Lotus and I've been perusing things, trying to figure out what yummy product I want to buy. I'm thinking either 100% Pure's Lemon bath gel or the Lavender bath gel.

So, sorry for the mopey post. I have some fun things in mind for my Friday post and hopefully by then things will be looking up a little bit more. Jonathan gets paid then, so that will help ease my mind a little bit about being able to put money toward our credit card. Ah, the joys of being an adult! ;o)

I hope everyone else is having a lovely week!

P.S. I did make some delicious Greek soup on Monday night. It's called fasolatha. I tweaked it, adding lamb and using a few different ingredients because they're what I had. It turned out wonderfully! I would definitely recommend this recipe.

  1. I'm sorry, buddy, about the tough times. Financial pressure and health concerns are terrible weights to carry. I've shouldered both and know how debilitating they are.

What I did, which you've started doing, is turn to the simple pleasures in life, like nature and food. Savor them in their intensity and you may find color returning to your cheeks. The trick is to move your mind from stress to wonder and find enjoyment in what's right in front of you at this very moment.

    Good luck.
