How I Spent New Year's Eve Day

Today Jonathan and I spent the day snowshoeing! It was pretty awesome. It was a great day to be outside. It was Jonathan's first time using the gear set-up that my dad got him for Christmas two years ago. It sucks that it has taken us this long to go out and do something that is one of my favorite things, but sometimes in life you have to wait for the good stuff.

So, with no further ado, this is what we did today!

Snow peas in the snow. :o)

Frank was there, of course!

Tonight's big plans are to wash dishes (when I am done on the computer - yippee), make nachos, watch a movie(s?), drink champagne, play with Artoo, and attempt to stay awake until midnight. Tomorrow's big plans are to get up and go snowshoeing again!! But then I am taking Jonathan to Double Mountain (IRA on tap...I am so, so happy) and that will be a nice, mini celebration. :o)

I hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year's Eve!

  1. Looks like a beautiful day! Our friends just got snowshoes this winter, and they've been bugging us to try it too. I'd love to - I've heard that you can see so much more wildlife than just hiking through the woods because the snowshoes are so quiet. Something else to put on my list!

Happy New Year, hope you guys had a great night!

  2. It was awesome! We were planning on going again tomorrow, but Jonathan's leg is bothering him so we are going to go to the coast instead. I was going to take him as part of his Christmas present later in January, but to do this instead is a nice surprise!

Victoria, you gotta get snowshoes!! They are so awesome! The first part of our time spent snowshoeing was just spent going though the woods wherever we felt, which was nice because there wasn't anyone else around. Since there are so few places around Portland to go play in the snow everyone HAS to go to Mount Hood, so we wanted to go where other people weren't. We're happy we found it! Didn't see any animals, though, although we did hear a chickadee. :o) I guess we did see two ravens also. They were bickering above our car when we were about to head home!
