Tuesday Giveaway from Little Paper Cities!

You know how some people come along and you say, "You know? We are going to be friends!" and then eventually you are, even though you still haven't had a chance to meet in real life yet? Yes? Well, that's Bettie and I. :o) We first met online through Twitter and have many mutual friends in Portland. We weren't able to meet before I left for the summer, so I'm looking forward to going back and having a new friend!

This week, Bettie is giving away a super cute 5x7 print of gnomes! Aren't these little guys cute?!

Name: Bettie Newell.
Age: Thirty-something
Location: Portland, Oregon
Where can we find you online?
I just opened my Etsy shop at: etsy.com/shop/littlepapercities
I have a photo blog at littlepapercities.com
I'm on twitter @bettienew
My favorite place to hang out on the internet is on my Flickr page:http://www.flickr.com/photos/bettienew/

How did we meet? On Twitter, of course. That seems to be where I meet all the coolest people these days.

What do you do for a living? I work from home as a part-time business lawyer for the firm, Tonkon Torp. When I'm not practicing law, I'm herding my two daughters and my two ridiculous little dogs and taking pictures of pretty things.

How did you take up your artistic medium? My father was a journalist and photographer who used to take me on shoots. I walked away from photography in my teen years (even though I loved it) as a way to rebel. I was really missing a creative outlet in my adult years, especially when I worked full-time as a lawyer. I kept trying out different things (sewing, paper crafting, writing) but all I wanted to do was take pictures of the process and the final product. That's when I realized that photography was really the only medium I wanted to work in.

Three reasons you’re awesome:
The only thing I could think of is that I make a mean cheesecake, so I asked my girls to tell me why I'm awesome. The younger one said I'm really pretty and I bake the best pies. The older one said I'm really smart and really awesome. So, I guess that's five reasons.

What’s your favorite quote? "It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are." e.e. cummings

What do you do when you’re having a bad day to remedy it? Settle in for some girl and dog snuggles. If no one is available to curl up with me (or if the girls/dogs are the cause of my bad day) I always go for a photo walk. If all else fails, I just have a big cry on my husband's shoulder (that always works).

What’s a piece of good advice you’d like to pass onto the readers? It is never too late to change course. If there is something you are passionate about, pursue it, even if you don't feel supported.
Anything more you’d like to tell us? The shop is new and I'll be adding lots of prints over the next few weeks. Please make sure to stop by!

Yay, thank you, Bettie! Let me tell you how to win this super cute print of hers...
