2013 Resolution: Read More Books

Finally got my $1 book light in the mail for my Kobo!

This post is about me tackling one of my 2013 resolutions. Won't you follow along?

I love to read. I have always loved reading. When I was young, my dad would drop me off at my babysitter's house and I would often rather read her daughter's set of Sesame Street encyclopedias than play. I am a fast reader and would power through these, and other, books. I haven't read many books in the past few years, mostly because I was in school and finishing up my degree. Sure, I still read, but I missed reading like I used to, where I could sit down and read an entire book in a single day. I just didn't have that kind of time and when I did, I did a multitude of other things instead of reading. That's why I want to make reading important again and to carve time aside for it! My goal for 2013 is to read 50 books. That's an average of a book a week, which should be relatively easy to do.

One of the things that I already own that should make things easier for me to carry my library with me is my beloved Kobo! I love my Silver Sparkle Princess Kobo (not the official name ;o) and don't use it as often as I should. That's changing this year! I have made myself budget money out from everything else I will be putting into savings and I will use that money as I please, which includes buying books!

The first four books I bought are:

"Torch" by Cheryl Strayed
"Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer
"How We Decide" by Jonah Lehrer

I also have "Mink River" and "The $100 Startup: Reinvent the Way You Make a Living, Do What You Love, and Create a New Future" from the library and had bought "Tiny Beautiful Things" right before January (AND LOVED IT!!!!).

I plan on blogging about the books I read and making an official list so I can see at the end of the year how many books I read. I hope you follow along and would love to hear suggestions of books to read!

  1. Funny how the universe works. I just watched Susan Cain's TED Talk last night! I can't wait to hear how her book is!

    1. Ohhh, that's awesome! I've never watched a TED Talk but I know they are amazing! I hope to start the book soon! I am finishing "Mink River" which will have to go back to the library, so that comes first. But I am soooooo excited to start "Quiet."
