A coffee giveaway! Oh, boy!

Know what one of the best parts about working for a coffee shop is? COFFEE! I have a 1lb bag of super delicious Sasquatch Blend for one lucky reader! (Google tells me I have 8 readers. YEAH!)

Sasquatch is a dark roasted blend that's mysteriously delicious! You may even find a bonus Sasquatch hair! (Kind of like Cracker Jacks...but wilderness style.)

I will tell you!

I have demands. I want a comment telling me your favorite recipe, your favorite story, or your favorite blog. Bonus points if you either tweet about the giveaway and mention @moteviolence or blog/Facebook/etc about it and leave the link to the post so I can see it. I want to know that you really care and you are SERIOUS about winning a frikken great bag of coffee. I selected this bag of coffee myself and it drove with Jonathan and I all the way down from Alaska this weekend, 25 hours on the road, driving through British Columbia, just for you.

"Why are you giving away coffee, Brittany?" you might be asking.

It's because I love you and I care.

Now go! Comment away and tell your friends!

Fine print: I will select a winner next Friday (October 1) at 6pm and will contact you through email, so, you know, be sure that I have that. Also, U.S. only please. I'm paying for school myself so I can't afford to go into debt from mailing a bag of coffee.

More fine print: Our super sweet Big Cartel store is set up to give YOU 20% off your coffee order for being a reader of my blog. Use the code PROSOUP at checkout to get your discount! (Steve is out of town so your coffee wouldn't go out until October 8. Bummer, but that's how life is, unfortunately. Don't you want to still get yummy coffee at a discount, though?)

Favorite Blogs: - I'm partial to this one, cause it's mine! I post all types of things from family updates, photo outings, hikes, or other adventures in life. - a coworkers house burned down and this has been the ongoing reports of progress through the process. He writes well, and I've been enjoying his insights as well as the ups and downs of the more-than-year-long journey. - a friend from highschool has become accomplished in all areas of digital media - I enjoy the blog because of his insightful comics, and his videos are awesome too. - another friend who is doing a year-long trip, and will be posting his experiences along the way. An accomplished media dude, he makes videos while travelling and is quite the photographer too.

And lastly, - I use the StumbleUpon plugin and periodically will favorite some awesome recipes, etc. This is a list of those sites that I thought worthy enough to come back to some day.

  9. Greetings Brittany,

    My favorite blog is this:

(there are some swear words on this site)

and..because this is so delicious, I want to share it with you and the world...this is my favorite recipe:

Maafe with Couscous – Mali/Niger, West Africa
    Chicken and Groundnut (peanut) Stew

This recipe is fairly common throughout all of West Africa and it is absolutely delicious!

    2 medium yellow onion, chopped
    2 medium green peppers, chopped
    4 medium tomatoes, chopped
    1 large bunch cilantro, chopped
1 ½ lbs. Boneless chicken breast, cut into small pieces
1 18 oz. jar smooth peanut butter
1 14 oz. can tomato sauce
1-quart chicken stock or broth (I use the organic broth that comes in a carton)
Cooking oil, canola, olive, or peanut oil (I like to use peanut oil)
    1 – 2 Tablespoons curry
    1 Tablespoon cumin
    1-teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions: Heat enough oil to cover the bottom of a deep soup pot. Add chopped onions to oil and cook until tender/translucent. Add chicken pieces to onions and cook until no longer pink. Pour in half of the chicken broth/stock and all of the tomato sauce; bring to a boil and let simmer. Add chopped green peppers and tomatoes and cook for about 10 minutes. Mix together spices in a small bowl. And thoroughly blend into stew mixture. Add peanut butter and mix until well blended. Let simmer for approximately 45 minutes over LOW heat. If stew becomes too thick, add remaining chicken stock/broth a little at a time. Add cilantro about 10 minutes before serving. Leave enough cilantro so that people can sprinkle some on top of their meal.
Serve stew over couscous or rice(truly couscous is best) garnish with cilantro and thin slices of yellow, red, and orange peppers on the side. The stew should be thick enough to hold its own on a plate - - no need for a bowl.
Traditionally peanut stew is poured over a large bowl of rice or couscous, and everyone eats from the same bowl using their hands.

    Serves 12-20 but freezes well
