Calendars, gyotaku, and friend time...it's a good thing!

The past couple days have been so great. School started and I'm really enjoying my classes so far. I'm even thinking I'm going to enjoy my statistics class. The teacher seems really nice and so far things are kinda making sense (although it could be because I already took some statistics). I've been able to work ahead in my Anth of Food & Nutrition class, getting some papers written, which is so awesome. I just have to turn them in during the correct weeks now. So I'm feeling really positive that I won't start feeling swamped.

Yesterday I took some stuff to Nicolle's house that I am getting rid of. On Thursday I'll take even more. I'm so glad to be finding new homes for my things that I haven't been using!

I ended up ordering Mossiere's Flora and Fauna calendar, because they dropped $10 off the price. As it was a little more affordable to me at this time, I bought it to go next to my home computer and then found this super cute calendar through Renai's blog post, so I ordered that to go at my desk at work. My search for calendars is complete!

Speaking of Renai, she is coming down next month to take an octopus gyotaku class with me from my friend Sharron Huffman. I have many (like over fourteen) works from Sharron and have taken a print-making class with her before. She is awesome and I'm really looking forward to the class! Renai and I will probably also end up making cheese or jam or soap or SOMETHING awesome. Crafty girly weekends for the win! THRILLLLLLLED!!

Here's some pictures from my last class with Sharron:
The squid I ended up printing. It is huge!

My first nice gyotaku, which I gave to my friend Melanie because she is awesome!

Isn't this cool?!

So, yes, I am looking forward to that weekend next month very much!

P.S. Sharron would like to add that if anyone is interested in gyotaku and nature printing to please visit the Nature Printing Society's website!

Happy hump day, everyone!

P.P.S. Here is a picture of the sky on Tuesday morning from my work. Isn't it pretty?

  2. I know! Isn't that cool? I first discovered Sharron's work ten years ago and we became to be friends. She called me her "Little Gyotaku Princess" because I was always saving up for her art pieces. I should make a post of the different gyotakus I have from her. She is no longer printing on muslim and silk as much. She's been doing encaustic for the past several years. I have two of those, but I prefer her prints on fabric because when the slightest breeze blows on them, they appear to move and the animal comes alive. It's pretty cool!

  3. Me, neither! We are going to have so much fun! I hope we're both able to get those Fridays off for some sort of adventure.
