The Official List of Books Read in June

My library book hold stack I picked up last week!

26. "Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation" by Michael Pollan
27. "Lady Chatterley's Lover" by D.H. Lawrence
28. "The Jungle Effect: Healthiest Diets from Around the World--Why They Work and How to Make Them Work for You" by Daphne Miller
29. "The War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells

I feel like I read a couple other books in June, but can't think of which ones they may have been, so maybe I didn't. But I sure did read a heck of a lot while I was on vacation, especially on Easter Island since we didn't have internet access.

I think my favorite book was Michael Pollan's "Cooked." As you may remember, I went to see him speak back in May about this book and he was fabulous! To finally be able to read the book was exciting. It covers how the powers of the four elements - air, fire, earth, and water - transform food from a base state into something providing nourishment for us. It was really fascinating and had his usual amount of historical context and research. Pretty great!

I also really liked Daphne Miller's "Jungle Effect" and found it fascinating. I think I even liked it a little more than the other book of hers I read, "Farmacology," which was pretty great, as well. I just really like reading about science and food!

What books have you read lately that you'd recommend to me?

Past months of books read: JanuaryFebruaryMarchApril, May.
